World-wide Standard Norms to "Ping pong" Sports Game
The International Table Tennis Federation sets the general Rules and Regulations of the Table Tennis "Ping Pong" sports game. However, Table Tennis Associations all over the world have respective slight modifications for various reasons in accordance to place culture and values of its citizens; members of the sports game community, aspirant games contestants, previous champions, and enthusiasts. Major contests of global category, wherever it takes, rules and regulations of the ITTF apply (latest edition), but the overall priority is set in the specific Association's body norm of practice.
Currently, ITTF has considered global affiliations of 127 organized Associations worldwide, betting other popular sports, considering Table Tennis is the youngest to be officially considered in Olympic competitions. Ironically, among the richer or fully developed nations, the U.S. was late to embrace table tennis as an official sports game.
Fair Games Played by Abiding Rules and Regulations
1. Earning Points - Official changes from the ITTF in year 2000 is revising the 21-point game to diminish to 11-point games. Singles, or double teams who first score 11 points win the game. Winning sides of 2 points is a must, to forego game match longer. A match is normally the best 3, out of 5. In bigger competition or in Olympics, the best out of 7 or 9 games are preferred.
2. Use of Ball Size - The ITTF has modified the use of 38mm-size ball in 2001 to 40mm now used in all international table tennis competitions, (See Regulations in later Script).
3. Serve Rule - In the "Serve" revision from the ITTF in September 2002 does NOT allow the ball to be hidden from the opponent.
Winning your Points
1. Opponent failure to return strikes that run thru the white lines (boundary), or at the edge table of the opponent.
2. When opponent serve to return the shot, and fails or serve illegally
3. If return threw of the opponent, the ball bounce back to him thru the net at his side
4. Serving back the ball to a distant outside your side of the net/table edge.
5. No way volleying. If opponent strikes the ball before it ever bounce on the side of his table.
6. When the opponent fails to return the ball after it strikes twice on the side of his table, or bounce twice before he hits it back.
7. Manifestations on part of the opponent to move the net and the table during the course of the game.
All the accessories that are used in order to play table tennis are covered with certain regulations like the table, ball, racket, net assembly, and every situation dealt with during the play like, Definition, Service, A Good Return, Order of Play, Rally as a Let, A Point, A Game, A Match, An Interval.
Basic Regulation Standards on:
Table - 274 cm., (9ft) in length; 152.5 cm (5ft) in width. It should be supported, so that the upper surface will be termed the playing surface, lie in horizontal plane 76 cm. (2'6 ft) above the floor.
Net Assembly - Playing surface divided into two equal "courts," by a net running vertically to each end lines of the surface.
Ball - Spherical, 40mm in diameter, and weighing 2.7 gm., celluloid or similar plastic materials, while or orange in color, or matte.
Racket - maybe of any size weight or shape, but the blade must be rigid and flat.
Notwithstanding competitions, "ping pong" games could be played in the confines of your home, without much hustles.
