Equipment for Table Tennis

Table tennis has been around for quite some time. People can find two sets of paddles and a celluloid ball in a pack in the toy section of a department store. Though if the player wants to be play like the pros, its best to check the items out in the sporting goods store.

The most important thing to buy in table tennis is the paddle. This is made of three small parts namely the blade, the rubber and the hold.

The blade is made out of wood. There are a lot of brands out there such as Donic, Yasaka, Butterfly and Donic. The average price for one of these could go from $40 to $150.

The hold or the handle as some call it is made of rubber. This should be soft and smooth so the individual will always have a firm grip. This will cost about $30 to $50.

The last part is the rubber. This price range for this is from $30 to $42. Most packs have two colors. One is red and other is black because this is required when playing table tennis in most matches.

All in all, a good paddle composed of the blade, rubber and handle will cost close to $250. The person can try using an affordable version first and upgrade later if this is needed to better improve in the game.

Before each competition, the referee will check the paddles. If there is any damage that could be advantageous to the player, this has to be changed. The person is not allowed to change this during the match unless the judge sees this is needed in order to continue the match.

No one can play the game without a few celluloid balls. This usually comes in 3, 6 or a dozen pieces per box. The price then will be from $3 to $20. If the individual needs more for practice, then its best to get the kind that has more than a hundred inside for less than $60.

The net should measure 15.25 centimeters. The price for one of these will cost from $16 to $75. This can be placed on any table and the players should check that it is standing upright before starting a game. If its not, maybe the individual should just tighten it some more.

The table is the last thing that person will need in order to play table tennis. This is also made of wood and many models are collapsible in the middle for easy storage. The price for one of these could be from $499 to $1499.

This doesn’t include shipping so the person should be ready to also pay for that if this will be ordered then delivered to the home.

When the individual has all three, it will already be easy to get started on the sport. The player should wear some loose clothing like a shirt and shorts so this will not hinder the movement both defensively and offensively.

Table tennis just like any sport will take some time to learn before anyone can get good at it. The beginner should probably learn from someone rather than watching this on television. Having the right equipment for table tennis is the first step in being just as good as the veterans in this game.
